 Preparation

1.  Watch the weather.  If rain is predicted, it is best to postpone.

2.  The landscaper or homeowner provides the labor for installing the sod.  All preparations should be completed prior to the sod being delivered.  This entails removal of existing grass or weeds and level the ground with a rake.  Lime should then be spread evenly, 50lb. bag covers 500 square feet, and you're then ready to lay the sod.  Sod should be laid like brick work with staggering seams and snug together; but not overlapping.  Sod must be installed immediately.

Care

To keep your lawn looking good and healthy, we recommend Scott's 4-step program for fertilizing, crabgrass and weed control.  Lime in the Fall and use GrubX for grub control in August.

Give your new lawn at least 1 inch of water within 1/2 hour of installation.  Water daily keeping sod moist until it is firmly rooted (about 2 weeks).  Then less frequent and deeper watering should begin.

Weather conditions will dictate the amount and frequency of watering.  Be sure that your new lawn has enough moisutre to survive hot, dry, or windy periods.
